Hatha Yoga Teacher Training In-House Program
Saturdays 8:30am - 2:00 PM Begins September 20, 2008 For over three decades the Temple of Kriya Yoga has been a leader in providing high-quality, in-depth training to those aspiring to be yoga teachers. The Temple has trained hundreds of students in the science of yoga. Many of these students are now using this knowledge to teach, to support themselves, to refine there own spiritual practice and to help others to develop a life of greater health, happiness and wisdom. Each fall, the Temple offers an extensive, 9-month program providing over 200 hours of instruction for certification. This program offers you the unique opportunity to fully explore the realms of yoga while developing your potential as a teacher in a positive, supportive environment. By enrolling in this 9-month training program, you will reap innumerable benefits which will last a lifetime! Experience in-depth training in hatha yoga, and cultivate the theoretical knowledge necessary to take the rewarding step from student to teacher through weekly and biweekly classes at the Temple. You will be provided with the necessary tools and techniques to successfully teach a variety of students. Through this program you will learn how to structure and create your own practice, develop greater control of your body and mind, and gain increased confidence in your abilities as a teacher. The Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and Certification Program is Offered in Two Phases Phase I begins with Orientation on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Classes meet weekly on Saturdays at 8:30am - 2:00 PM from September through December. Phase II begins in January and concludes with graduation in June of 2009. Classes meet every other Saturday at 8:30am - 2:00 PM. The Saturday classes combine in-depth asana instruction, related anatomy and physiology, pranayama and breathing practices, philosophy lectures and discussion, teaching skills and their practical application, meditation and mantra techniques and more. The classes are supported by special lectures, CDs, books, printed lessons, and home study assignments. Special Weekend Retreat An off campus 4-day weekend retreat will be held in early March of 2009. It begins Thursday evening and ends Sunday afternoon. It is held in a beautiful and quiet retreat center outside of Chicago. Course Curriculum • An overview of the Classical Yoga SystemThe Instructors The certification program is taught by a team of highly qualified teachers who are committed to applying the principles of yoga to their own lives. The teachers are certified through the Temple's In-house Hatha Yoga Teacher Training programs, and bring several years of study, practice and teaching experience to the training. They are dedicated to your experience of the program as well as to your development as a practitioner and teacher of Hatha Yoga.
Teacher CertificationA teacher's certificate will be awarded to those who fulfill the requirements of the course. Those seeking certification must complete the requirements for the course and successfully demonstrate their comprehension of the principles and practice of yoga and their ability to communicate this to others. The Temple of Kriya Yoga is a registered school with Yoga Alliance, a national registry for yoga teachers. Upon certification from the Temple, teachers are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. Additional Attendance Requirements for Certification: Elective Hours Requirement: students are required to attend 15 hours in general hatha yoga classes at the Temple, 5 hours of hatha yoga classes outside the Temple and 5 hours of any yoga related classes at or outside the Temple. The yoga related classes can include meditation, philosophy lectures and discussions, chanting, etc. All general hatha yoga classes at the Temple are offered free of charge to students enrolled in the program for the length of the course. Attendance is required at three lectures which are scheduled on weekends outside of regular class time. Two of the lectures will be on Saturday afternoons following regular classes. The third lecture will be on a Friday evening. All students are required to attend the retreat held in March of 2009. Tuition Tuition for the entire course is $2,695. A tuition deposit of $895 is due at the time of enrollment. In addition to the deposit, there are three payments of $600 each. You can receive a 10% discount if the course is paid in full before the starting date, reducing the total to $2,425. Special payment arrangements considered upon request. Tuition includes over 200 hours of training, along with books, CDs and printed lessons. The tuition also includes free attendance to all general hatha yoga classes offered at the Temple for the duration of the program. Tuition does not include the 4-day weekend retreat. The retreat fee is $350 for double occupancy and $395 for a private room (space permitting), and includes vegetarian meals. Who is Qualified to Enroll All genuinely interested in learning about yoga are encouraged to enroll in this training program. Though some knowledge of yoga is helpful, you are not required to have previous yoga experience.
